A few weeks ago, I was introduced to a group called Thank You Walt Disney, Inc. http://www.thankyouwaltdisney.org/ who are raising funds in order to restore animation pioneer, Walt Disney’s original Laugh-O-Gram Studio. The Laugh-O-Gram Studio was a film studio located on the second floor of the McConahay Building in Kansas City, Missouri. The studio served as a vital location for Walt Disney and his animation team in its early years. It is said to be the place that provided Walt Disney with his inspiration to create Mickey Mouse.
Walt Disney founded Laugh-O-Gram Studio in May, 1922. The company received an $11,000 contract to produce six fairy tale cartoons for Pictorial Clubs, Inc. Unfortunately the company experienced problems making ends meet in its very short existence and declared bankruptcy in July, 1923. Disney moved to Hollywood, California selling his movie camera and earning enough money for a one-way train ticket & the rest is history.
I will be donating a limited edition print of my hand-drawn pen & ink illustration of the Cinderella Castle featured below to the group for a charity fundraiser which will go towards raising funds to restore the studio.
